In 2012 I came across a feral colony of honey bees inside the walls of a derelict property near Welshampton, Ellesmere which I was surveying for renovation.I have always been interested in bees and their important role in pollination and this was the perfect chance to start Beekeeping and I wanted to help these bees as they would not be a welcome addition to the new occupants of the property.so I set about my research on Beekeeping and found hive plans on the internet so got building and made my first hive and also I got myself a bee suit and a smoker then went off to remove the colony, It was a steep learning curve never working with bees to removing a feral colony alone, I succeeded with no stings and they were happy in their new home and later that year I harvested a small amount of honey.
